Coastal Life

From Village Kitchens to Jungle Trails

The southern coast reveals itself through a succession of close encounters: fish beneath the surface at Los Arcos, tortillas prepared in a Quimixto home, and the sound of water beyond the village trails. Each stop brings a different perspective on the region. By the time the group reaches Pizota, the afternoon turns toward a shared meal, a hammock, and the view across the bay.

The Experience

See the Experience

The day begins aboard a speedboat on Banderas Bay, with the wooded coastline stretching south of Puerto Vallarta. Guests settle in beside their companions as the crew heads toward Los Arcos. The rock formations gradually come into view, rising above the water with seabirds moving around their cliffs. At the snorkeling stop, guides help everyone prepare their equipment before entering the sea. Beneath the surface, tropical fish move around the rocks. Some guests explore confidently, while others take their time getting comfortable with the guidance provided. Back aboard, there are smiles and conversations about what everyone spotted underwater. The journey continues to Quimixto, where the group walks through village streets lined with colorful murals and small shops. Inside a local home, tortillas take shape by hand and fresh salsa is prepared in a molcajete. Guests gather to watch, ask questions, and taste the food while spending time with their hosts.

A Day with Several Changes of Setting

Sea Safari brings together time on the water, a village visit, and a journey inland. Those changes are central to its character. The speedboat offers a broad view of the coast; walking through Quimixto brings attention to the details of daily life; the trail reveals the vegetation behind the village.
Consider how everyone in your party feels about that variety. The day involves getting on and off the boat, walking, entering the water, and taking part in a guided ride. Discuss any participation questions with the booking team so the experience matches your expectations.
The Value of the Village Visit

The stop in a local home gives familiar Mexican flavors a more personal context. Watching tortillas take shape and salsa come together in a molcajete adds something that a restaurant menu cannot convey on its own.
Take time to listen to the hosts and ask questions through your guide. When photographing people or the interior of a home, ask first. A considerate visit leaves room for conversation and allows the cooking to remain the focus.

Approaching the Waterfall

The journey toward Quimixto waterfall is part of the experience. Tropical vegetation changes the view as the trail moves inland, and the sound of the water becomes part of the arrival.
Treat the waterfall as a place to observe and enjoy, with swimming dependent on the conditions. Its flow and appearance can vary, so photographs should be understood as a view of a particular day rather than a promise of identical conditions.

Making the Most of Pizota

After the earlier activities, Pizota provides time to slow down. Enjoy the meal, take in the shoreline, and decide whether you would prefer another interval on the water or a quiet rest in a hammock.
For the return, keep the crew’s meeting time in mind and leave some flexibility in your evening plans. Time to change and rest before dinner can make the transition from an active coastal outing more comfortable.
